SOS PLANET EARTH is a charity compilation album for which the artists, their producers and record companies have donated tracks royalty free. The resulting profits will finance a series of micro-projects of a sustainable development nature that have been selected by the producers of the album, ADOME and by the Patron of the project, Comité 21.

The artists that are featured on this album are there because they care. They care about our planet and they care about the peoples on our planet. Many of them have been concerned about environmental issues for several years now. They are known and respected for their commitment to similar projects. They know that every effort counts. Not only are they giving up their income from the sales of this record, but, whenever possible, some of them will be talking to the media about the project and the issues involved.

Amongst the artists appearing on the album are: Peter Gabriel, Sergent Garcia, Johnny Glegg, Youssou N'Dour, Bebel Gilberto, I Muvrini & Sting, Toure Kunda, Bill Laswell and Rokia Traore.

DVD version including music videos by artist from the audio CD and containing information and film on the main themes of sustainable development covered at the Johannesburg Summit in August 2002.
