Director John Ford delivers a heavy handed and overly romanticized account of backwards country life in rural Georgia. The film wavers between slapstick comedy and some critical social drama but does not succeed in the latter due to the romanticized tone. Should we really feel that this family's life is desirable? Charley Grapewin is a kick in the lead role, but the William Tracy character is one of the most annoying I have ever seen in any movie.- War diese Mitgliederkritik hilfreich?
